In 1991 visitor’s centre Schaapskooi Mergelland in Epen started managing nature in a natural way with a flock of 50 Mergelland sheep that has now grown into a flock of about 630 sheep. This rare and local breed of sheep is more than qualified to manage the chalk grassland.

The educational centre hands out information about conserving nature by using sheep and loves to organize visits for schools and various groups. Why not plan a trip with shepherd Ger Lardinois, shear sheep at the start of the summer or see the new-born lambs in January on your next company or family outing.
