Castle garden Oud-Valkenburg is located under the lee of Schaloen castle and consists of watermill “de Sjloens Meule”, a botanical garden and a herb garden. The watermill and the neglected castle orchard have been restored by volunteers. The old orchard now houses a botanical garden, where 400 species of South Limburg flowers and plants grow, such as forgotten vegetables, kitchen herbs and medicinal herbs. Bees are buzzing softly and the pond is teeming with salamanders and green frogs. In short, the castle garden is a true haven of peace and greenery.
