In Wijlre you can pay a visit to the beautiful gardens surrounding the 17th-century Wijlre Castle. The castle garden covers an area of three hectares and is split up in small gardens, each with different plants. For instance, you will find a flower garden, a vegetable garden and an herb garden there. The blue, pink, yellow and white gardens are real showpieces. All gardens are connected by hedges. In 1999 the Hedge House was built on the complex; modern architecture on the ancient castle’s land. It’s a combination of old and new. There is an extra room in the Hedge House for exhibitions.
