A dormitory, at night. A beam of torchlight appears. Some boys come out from under the sheets. In turn, they observe their shadows on the wall.
Their silhouettes are shifting and do not look like them. They talk of their future and of their shadows which will become frozen for good when they are grown up thus determining their destiny. Sélim, the boy who has the shadow of a girl, responds to the soft lament of Sybil, the prowler whom the army has never been able to capture. But La Chancelière and Le Grand Dirigeant would do anything to overpower the child with the crowned shadow, the lamp test is going to begin...
A touch of surrealism, a hint of terror, a pinch of humour and a good dose of poetry make up this fantastical tale in which the audience will place a full part.
Line Adam, brilliant Belgian musician and prolific composer, could not have found a better collaborator for Sybil et les Silhouettes than André Borbé, witty lyricist, always optimistic, never complacent and adored by the young... and the old. Both are quick to play fair with the younger audiences, for a production of great delicacy.
