The old church of St. Bartholomeus is a precious and impressive building made out of millstone-grit. It was founded during the reign of Prince Bishop Balderic (1008-1018). After the restoration work in 1999 and 2006, the interior was redecorated in baroque and the outside was recently restored into its original style. The baptismal fonts in the church are a masterwork of goldsmith’s trade. Because of the high-quality reliefs and their construction they are seen as one of the seven Beauties of Belgium.
