Hors-Château
Hors-Château
Rue Hors Château
4000 Liège
Hors-Château is probably the oldest street in old Liège. It’s worth visiting just because of its imposing and beautiful buildings. The name of the neighborhood comes from the location outside the first enclosure. ‘Hors-Château’ literally means outside the castle. In the 14th century it became the quarter of aristocracy and religious institutes. Some of the old town houses are schools nowadays. The typical narrow side-streets (called Impasse) were inhabited by the staff of the town houses. The Hors-Château road leads you to other sights worth seeing such as the montagne de Bueren.
