SCHUNCK* is a ‘’newseum’’, housing in the monumental Glaspaleis (glass palace), built by architect Frits Peutz in 1935. SCHUNCK* is a multidisciplinary ‘cultural temple’ settled in Heerlen, dedicated to presentations, collections and education in the field of contemporary visual art, architecture, music, literature and film and to all possible ‘’crossovers’’ between the arts. The focus is on Modernism and Urban Culture. The modern public library and school of music in SCHUNCK* work on the promotion of pleasure in reading and musical education in a contemporary way.
