In 1994 Château de la Motte was restored to its original state thanks to investments done by private companies. With support of the Belgian Province of Limburg and the Dienst voor Monumenten en Landschappen (Flemish service for monuments and landscapes) the castle has regained the glory it had in 1015. The castle, situated on the old Steenweg between Liege and Brussels, now attracts many hikers and cyclists using the cycle tracks and footpaths in the surrounding area. A walk alongside the herb gardens and mineral water sources in the gardens around the castle is irresistible for many. The ingredients for the dishes served in the castle restaurant are of course from the gardens mentioned. Whether you choose to dine inside the restaurant or outside on the terrace, you are sure to enjoy a superb Mediterranean meal in a pleasant atmosphere. All congress- and party rooms that can be rented here are stylishly and authentically decorated. Château de la Motte is a good example of how to conserve historic monuments without government support.
