Z33 is a house for contemporary art. Since 2002, Z33 makes projects and exhibitions encouraging visitors to look at everyday things in a new way. It is a unique laboratory and a meeting place for experiments and innovation, where you can see renewed exhibitions of contemporary art and design.
Z33 does not have its own collection, but it does have a permanent offer of exhibitions, consisting of three major exhibition projects and three smaller projects each year. In addition to the exhibitions, Z33 also organizes the Z-OUT project. This is a large-scale project that brings contemporary art to public spaces in Belgian Limburg. On the initiative of Z33, Belgian Limburg presented itself successfully as a candidate for the organisation of Manifesta 9 in 2012.
The name Z33 is derived from its location, Zuivelmarkt 33, the historic beguinage in the city of Hasselt.
