Eupen
Eupen is the capital of the German-speaking community in Belgium and is also an important regional trade centre. Eupen is subdivided into an upper town that is located in a broad, inviting valley and a lower town situated on the bank of the Wezer en the Hill. The many well-maintained half-timbered houses from the 18th century are a reminder of the importance of the sheet production in this region. The façades that are decorated with bluestone and the big doors in the middle are characterizing for the mansions. During a guided tour the most important monuments are visited such as the St. Nicolas Chapel, City Hall, the government building of the German-speaking community, various fountains, half-timbered houses from the 17th and 18th century.
