The Aachen Contemporary Music Company e.V., the  « Gesellschaft für Zeitgenössische Musik Aachen e.V. » (GZM),  was founded in 1988.  Ever since the « Klangbrücke »  (Musical Bridge) was created 10 years later, the GZM has presented itself as a stable institution and it is a constituent part of the old Kurhaus with its rich traditions.  Here the Klangbrücke uses the office, seminar and repetition rooms and the studio stage for its broad range programme. The Musical Bridge offers those interested a place for the creative development of musical themes, a space for trends in contemporary art and a protected environment against noise, monotony and the superficiality of the music industry.  It is a site for experiments and discoveries. 

In Aachen, it represents a link between producers and interpreters of contemporary music on the one hand and the music-loving public on the other.  Furthermore, it is a platform for individual initiatives and public commitment and also for local and euregional artistes and music lovers within the various genres of the recent artistic scene.
